Zac Triemert
Brewmaster
With a Bachelor’s in Microbiology and five years experience as a chemist and
fermentation microbiologist, Zac joined Upstream as Head Brewmaster in 2002.
Since then, he has added a number of new beers to the menu, including cold-filtered
light beer, British-style cask conditioned ale and oak-aged Belgian-style ales bottled
and conditioned in champagne bottles. He received his master’s degree from Heriot-Watt
University in Edinburgh, Scotland, in August 2006. And is busy turning his new found
knowledge into beverages for all.
What beer’s in your fridge right now?
Boddingtons Draught Bitter, Artois Bock, New Belgium Skinny Dip, Boulevard Bob’s ’47,
Upstream Firehouse ESB, Cantillon Grand Cru 2002 and of course a full selection of
Upstream’s Oak-Aged Belgian ales. I have a big fridge.
Bottle or draught?
Both. But you can’t beat fresh cask ale right off the pump.
Light or dark?
Depends on my mood, the season and the meal.
Strangest beer you’ve ever tasted?
A Belgian wit distilled into an orange liqueur. It seemed strange at the time, but in hindsight, it was amazing.
What flavor’s next?
Let me know what you would like to try.
We brew for you! Cheers, Zac
